Are you looking for a fun, family-friendly activity to share with your kids this Halloween? Then look no further than these deliciously spooky, over-the-top cookie creations.

Step 1. Create Your Canvas.

Our Ginger Evans Chocolate Chip Cookie mix (pouch mix, 17.5 ounces) makes for the perfect canvas for your cookie art. So, grab a bag from your neighborhood Save A Lot – or kitchen pantry – and let’s begin.

First, follow the directions on the back of your pouch mix to prepare your cookie dough.

Next, lightly grease a large cookie sheet, then preheat your oven to 325°F.

*You may notice that the directions on the back of your pouch recommend a temperature of 375°F, however cookies this large will burn at such a high heat, so we recommend baking at 325°F.

While your oven is preheating, form your dough into 3 large round cookies – nearly 6 inches in diameter each, roughly ½ inch thick – and place them on your greased cookie sheet, leaving plenty of space for them to spread out as they cook. Make sure to maintain uniform thickness to ensure that all three cookies cook evenly throughout.

Once you’ve formed your cookie rounds, place them in the freezer for 5 minutes. Chilling the dough slightly before baking will prevent the cookies from spreading too much as they bake.
Once your oven has reached 325°F, place your cookies inside and let them bake for approximately 20 minutes.
Once they’re finished baking, set them aside to cool before moving onto decorations.

Step 2. Frost your Foundation.

Frosting is the perfect backdrop for your cookie masterpiece. And while you can’t go wrong with classic frostings from Ginger Evans, Nutsome’s Hazel Nutter delivers a creamy hazelnut base that won’t disappoint.

Either choice can be spread with a knife or piped using a piping bag. Don’t have a piping bag? No problem. Simply fill a plastic sandwich bag with your frosting and snip a small corner from which to squeeze your frosting.

Step 3. Select Your Toppings

Once you’ve frosted your cookies, it’s time to get really creative.
