German Apple Cake

  • 4 Eggs, room temperature
  • 4 Apples, peeled and thinly sliced (Granny Smith, or any tart apple)
  • 1/2 cup Tipton Grove Orange Juice
  • 2 1/4 cup Ginger Evans Granulated Sugar
  • 3 cups Ginger Evans All Purpose Flour
  • 3 tsp Ginger Evans Baking Powder
  • 2 1/2 tsp Marcum Vanilla Extract
  • 2 tsp Marcum Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Marcum Salt
  • 1 cup Medeiro’s Canola Oil
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray or grease 10″ tube pan or bundt cake pan.
  2. Mix cinnamon and 2 tsp sugar in small bowl and set aside.
  3. In separate medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt and set aside.
  4. In separate large bowl, beat together eggs and remaining sugar. Then add oil and orange juice. Once mixed together well, add dry items from medium bowl.
  5. Beat everything together until smooth. Add vanilla and whisk everything thoroughly.
  6. Add half of batter to greased pan. Place half of sliced apples on top of batter in a pinwheel pattern. Sprinkle 1 tsp of cinnamon sugar mixture over apples.
  7. Gently and evenly top with remaining batter and repeat steps with remaining apples and cinnamon sugar.
  8. Bake for 1 hour. Insert and remove toothpick to see if cake is done – toothpick should be dry. If cake is not baked through, place in oven for another 10 minutes.
  9. Once baked, cool of an hour apple-side up on a wire rack.
  • Sprinkle powder sugar and orange zest on top of cake for add flavor.
  • Combine 1/4 cup of orange juice with 1 cup of powder sugar to make an orange icing and drizzle over cooled cake.
