Directions

  1. Marinate chicken: In a bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken thighs and coat thoroughly. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 8 hours.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine maple syrup, honey, butter, red pepper flakes, cinnamon, chili powder, and apple cider vinegar.
  3. Simmer over low heat for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, then remove from heat and keep warm.
  4. Fry the chicken: Heat 2–3 inches of oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven to 350°F. In a shallow dish, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
  5. Remove chicken from marinade and dredge thoroughly in seasoned flour.
  6. Fry chicken in batches for 5–7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  7. Transfer to a wire rack and let rest.
  8. Cook Morning Delight Homestyle Waffles according to package directions until golden and crisp.
  9. Place two waffles on each serving plate. Top with fried chicken thighs. Generously drizzle with the sweet & spicy maple glaze then enjoy!
