Directions
- Marinate chicken: In a bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken thighs and coat thoroughly. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 8 hours.
- In a small saucepan, combine maple syrup, honey, butter, red pepper flakes, cinnamon, chili powder, and apple cider vinegar.
- Simmer over low heat for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, then remove from heat and keep warm.
- Fry the chicken: Heat 2–3 inches of oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven to 350°F. In a shallow dish, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
- Remove chicken from marinade and dredge thoroughly in seasoned flour.
- Fry chicken in batches for 5–7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Transfer to a wire rack and let rest.
- Cook Morning Delight Homestyle Waffles according to package directions until golden and crisp.
- Place two waffles on each serving plate. Top with fried chicken thighs. Generously drizzle with the sweet & spicy maple glaze then enjoy!
