Participating stores will match shopper donations and provide Rewards member perks throughout the two-week campaign
ST. LOUIS (Sept. 2, 2025) – Save A Lot, one of the largest discount grocery chains in the U.S., is partnering with Meals on Wheels America to raise funds in support of local Meals on Wheels programs that deliver vital services to seniors experiencing hunger and isolation.
For two weeks, starting Wednesday, September 3 through Tuesday, September 16, shoppers can donate $1, $3 or $5 to Meals on Wheels at checkout in participating locations and Save A Lot will match the donations, up to $50,000, in honor of National Grandparents Day (September 7).
As an added benefit, Save A Lot Rewards members who donate will receive 100 dots at the conclusion of the campaign. Rewards members must have an active account and enter their phone number at checkout to earn the dots. Dots can be redeemed for products and other rewards at a participating local Save A Lot.
“We’re proud to partner with Meals on Wheels America and support local programs that deliver nutritious meals and connection to those in need within our communities,” said Jerome Bouyer, Vice President of Retail Operations at Save A Lot. “National Grandparents Day created a great opportunity to engage our customers and work together to donate to those in need.”
Food insecurity affects nearly 13 million seniors nationwide — and the challenges are even greater for those who are homebound. Many struggle with mobility, making it difficult to shop for groceries or prepare meals. Limited transportation, health issues, and tight budgets often mean they can’t access or afford the nutritious food they need to stay healthy and independent.
“We’re grateful for the opportunity to partner with Save A Lot and their generous customers,” said Len Walder, Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships at Meals on Wheels America. “Support from businesses, community organizations, and individuals allows local Meals on Wheels programs in communities across the country to continue delivering nutritious meals, friendly visits, and safety checks to those who need them most. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our aging neighbors.”
Participating locations include 130 stores across markets such as the greater Tampa, Fla, area; Columbus, Cleveland, Dayton and Toledo, Ohio; Chicago, Ill.; Indianapolis and Ft. Wayne, Ind.; Nashville and Memphis, Tenn.; and Milwaukee, Wis. Check for participating stores at https://savealot.com/wcp/meals-on-wheels-2025
