Awards Empower Hometown Heroes to Give Back

(ST. LOUIS, MO) (June 4, 2026) – Save A Lot, one of the largest discount grocery chains in the U.S., is proud to announce the Round 1 winners of its Hometown Heroes program. Each winner received a $500 Save A Lot gift card in recognition of their outstanding service and impact in their communities.

The Hometown Heroes program is a nomination-based initiative that recognizes individuals and organizations making a meaningful impact in the neighborhoods they serve. These everyday heroes exemplify compassion, service, and dedication, going above and beyond to support those around them.

Ashlee Wethington (pictured left) is a volunteer firefighter who plans use her gift card to further support her community of Munfordville, KY.  

Elizabeth Freeman of the Elmwood Blessing Box in Westland, MI will use her Save A Lot gift card to continue helping neighbors in her community.

Karri Dumas (pictured center), of Cadillac, MI, plans to use her Save A Lot gift card to support the Halloween House of Cadillac.

Jacqueline Bromley (pictured left) of Dade City, FL will use her gift card to help support the students at Pasco High School.

Michele Smith of Sullivan, IN (pictured center) plans to use her Save A Lot gift card to help support the Sullivan County Salvation Army.

Mehgan Hoover of the Community Household Pantry in Versailles, KY plans to use her Save A Lot gift card to help the pantry.
